Alyssa + Jeremy
As a Californian; I had never experienced Joshua Tree until I had been living up in Oregon. Now that I’m back in Los Angeles shooting elopements I’m excited to have such easy access to this beautiful location! Alyssa + Jeremy are two adventurous souls that a Joshua Tree elopement was an undeniable choice. I loved hearing about their spontaneous and exciting camping stories!
In Joshua Tree National Park you’re welcomed by striking rock formations, the faint scent of cactus flowers floating in the breeze. We spent elopement in Southern California adventuring through the Park, catching the hazy sunset at Keys View. I felt so connected to the vastness of Joshua Tree and the great outdoors was such an important part of their wedding day. I’m a huge advocate for my couples to make their elopement all about them! That of course includes a location that speaks to you.
Here in the United States our National Parks are undoubtedly national treasures, they can be such a wild and beautiful choice for an elopement! With 61 National Parks and counting, what a lovely way to pay homage to the protected natural landscapes around the country.
There are, however, a few things to be aware if you’re considering eloping in Joshua Tree, Yosemite, Sequoia National Park or anywhere in between:
• Most National Parks will require you file for a permit for your elopement or micro wedding. Every Park is different, so I recommend checking their website for more information!
• Some of the Parks have frequent road and trail closures due to weather or other events, depending on the time of year. It’s a good idea to research what locations will be accessible on your date or during that season!
• A photography permit for your elopement or micro wedding may be needed, depending on the National Park! Each respective website can be helpful when navigating fees, permits, or other considerations.
• In general, a great policy to keep in mind is the Leave No Trace Principles. Practicing smart, considerate and responsible ways of enjoying the outdoors is helpful and sustainable for us all!
